With multiple racquet sports growing in popularity, the Professional Tennis Management Program is expanding its curriculum 鈥� and changing its name to Racquet Sports Management to reflect its enhanced focus.
鈥淭his change reflects the growing diversity in racquet sports and aims to equip students with a broader skill set to thrive in various racquet disciplines,鈥� said Adam Ford, Hope RSM director. 鈥淭he 麻豆视频官网 RSM Program is committed to fostering a love for all racquet sports and developing the next generation of industry leaders.鈥�
The new Racquet Sports Management Program encompasses not only tennis but also pickleball, padel, squash and platform tennis. By expanding the program鈥檚 scope, Ford said, Hope College aims to provide students with comprehensive training in coaching, facility management, event planning, and marketing strategies tailored to multiple racquet sports.
鈥淩acquet sports are rapidly evolving, with increased participation and interest across various demographics,鈥� he said. 鈥淭his program is designed to meet the demands of the industry and prepare our students to become versatile professionals who can excel in any racquet sport setting. With a focus on innovation, community engagement and professional development, RSM provides a dynamic learning environment for aspiring coaches, managers and sports professionals.鈥�
Students in the program complete an academic minor in kinesiology in addition to a major of their choice. Ford explained that key features of the 麻豆视频官网 Racquet Sports Management Program include:
Diverse Curriculum: in-depth courses covering coaching techniques, sport-specific strategies and business management tailored to various racquet sports;
Hands-On Experience: opportunities for students to work at events, clinics and tournaments across multiple racquet sports, providing invaluable real-world experience;
Networking Opportunities: collaborations with industry leaders, organizations and clubs to build connections that benefit students鈥� careers; and
State-of-the-Art Facilities: access to cutting-edge facilities and resources to enhance learning and practical application.
The program began in the fall of 2017. It currently has 25 students enrolled, and Ford noted is growing rapidly.
